- The team of test knitters
Thank you so much for showing interest in my work and for possibly becoming a test knitter for me.
How I work with test knitters
When a new design is ready to be tested, I contact everyone on my mailing list. (If you want to get on the mailing list, send me an email with the information I ask for below).
When I write to the mailing list, I include information about the pattern, any challenges I particularly need to try out, deadlines, yarn consumption and whether there is any sponsored yarn or a discount code that can be included in the test.
If you want to test knit the model I'm writing about, please reply as soon as possible by email with information about the size you want to knit. If you are not interested in this particular test knit, please do not reply back.
I put together the test team with a mix of familiar and new test knitters, and I emphasize both more and less experienced knitters.
The practicalities
I want my test knitters to help me spread the word and promote the new pattern, so it is definitely preferable if you have an open profile on Instagram (preferably with a good weight of knitting content)or if you share on YouTube.
You don't need to be super experienced, but you must have the courage to tackle the recipe and challenges independently.
Test knitting is currently only in Danish - if your native language is not Danish but you understand how to knit according to Danish pattern, you can easily sign up, but my pattern is written in Danish.
You will receive an email from me if I have chosen to move forward with you as a test knitter for the specific project, but you will not hear from me if you are not selected. Promise me not to take it too hard in that case, as you have a good chance of being chosen another time.
What I expect from you
I need test knitters who have a willingness to finish the project. Partly because it's important to me and my work, but also because I do what I can to have great partnerships with yarn brands that sponsor yarn for many of my projects and test knitters.
As a test knitter, you are given a time frame that is expected to be met (unless there are such glaring challenges with the pattern or calculations that it is obviously out of your hands)
You are expected to give me feedback on sizes, yarn usage, wording, etc. and I will make sure to give you the points you need to give feedback on from the very beginning.
Finally I expect you to share at least once from the process and again when the recipe is published, but preferably more of course.
Community on Instagram
It's a bit different what works, but I try to create a chat group on Instagram for the test knitters who participate in the specific test knit. It's up to you whether you want to use the group or prefer direct feedback to me by email.
Ravelry
As something new, I'm creating a code on Ravelry for each test knit where you can add your project. It's not a requirement, and I have to confess that I don't have much experience with it yet myself.
At the end of a testknit, you will receive the final version of the pattern and a discount code which can be used in my webshop.
About sizes
I am dedicated to expanding my existing designs with more sizes. Therefore, I can ask for testing help for these existing designs as well as new ones.
Basically, I assume these sizes and measurements, which may vary slightly:
XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL)
corresponding to a chest measurement of approx:
74 (84) 94 (104) 114 (124) 134 (144) cm
I always share information about recommended movement clearance for each design.
Materials
At least 1 yarn alternative is always suggested to work with.
You are free to work with whatever yarn you want, as long as you can follow the gauge and achieve the desired look.
Being a small knitwear designer, I can't always offer sponsored yarn to all my test knitters. Sometimes I can, sometimes I can offer a discount code to buy the yarn cheaper, but if you have something suitable in your yarn stash, I am also very grateful for your interest and help.
