Beginner's cap

50,00 kr.

The beginner hat is a knitting pattern where the language and explanations are made extra beginner-friendly and the techniques are kept very simple. The hat is one size.

The pattern is supplemented by a video on YouTube where all the steps are shown, but the video is older, so the recommended yarn and needle size have been adjusted for this pattern. Stick to the recommendations in the pattern and you'll be fine.

The hat is knitted from the bottom up. This means that you start with the rib edge, which corresponds to the width of the hat. Only when you have reached the desired length (height) of the hat, work it narrower towards the top and finish it off.

Necessary techniques for this hat are cast on, knit stitches, purl stitches, decreases and tacking ends. Everything is described in detail and links are provided to relevant videos that can be watched many times.

Description

Size
One Size

Circumference lying flat approx. 40 cm (stretched out to fit the head)
Height without folds approx. 29 cm

Knitting size
14 sts x 19 rows = 10 x 10 cm worked in stockinette stitch on 6.5 mm needles

The gauge is your yardage, so if you are knitting a small square, you should be able to count 14 stitches side by side within 10 cm and 19 stitches on top of each other within 10 cm. Gauge is measured before cast-on and block

Indicative needles
I knit with a 6.5 mm needle at 40 cm, but I probably knit more loosely and casually than the classic beginner. I would recommend the beginner to knit with 7.0 mm needles at 40 cm.

Materials
100 grams Glory from Lang Yarns, i.e. 2 skeins

or

2 strands of sock yarn laid together, it can also be hand-dyed sock
