Test knitter

Thank you so much for showing interest in my work and for perhaps becoming a test knitter for me.

How I work with test knitters

When a new design is ready to be tested, I will contact everyone on my mailing list. (If you would like to be added to the mailing list, please send me an email with the information I request below.)

When I write to the mailing list, it includes information about the pattern, any challenges I particularly need to test, deadlines, yarn consumption, and whether there is any sponsored yarn or a discount code that can be included in the test.

If you want to test knit the model I am writing about, please reply to the email as soon as possible with information about the size you want to knit (NB! Always based on the estimated measurements I provide).

Please do not reply to the email if you are not interested in this particular test stitch.

I put together the test team with a mix of test knitters I know and new ones, and I also consider both more and less experienced knitters. However, it is a requirement that you initially have enough experience to be able to work independently with the project, so I don't have to help with basic stitches. I am of course available along the way to answer questions and make adjustments that relate to getting the pattern as well described and correct as possible.

The practical

I would like my test knitters to help me promote and market the new pattern, so it is definitely preferable if you have an open profile on Instagram (preferably with a good weight of knitting content) , or if you share on YouTube.

It is not a requirement that you are super experienced, but you must have the courage to tackle the recipe and challenges independently.

Test knitting is currently only done in Danish - if your native language is different, but you know how to knit according to a Danish pattern, you can certainly sign up, but my pattern is written in Danish.

You will receive an email from me if I have chosen to continue with you as a test knitter for the specific project, but you will not hear from me if you are not chosen. Please don't take it too seriously in that case, as you have a good chance of being chosen another time.

What I expect from you

I need test knitters who are willing to complete the project. Partly because it is important to me and my work, but also because I do what I can to have good partnerships with yarn brands that sponsor yarn for many of my projects and test knitters.

As a test knitter, you will be given a time frame that you are expected to adhere to (unless there are such glaring challenges with the pattern or calculations that it is of course out of your hands).

You are expected to give me feedback about the size you knit, yarn consumption, formulations, etc. and I will make sure to give you the points on which you need to give feedback from the very beginning.

Finally , I expect at least that you share once from the process and again when the recipe is published, but more is welcome of course.

Your profit

As a test knitter, you first and foremost gain good experience and insight into the design process (some of it, anyway) . For some test knitters, it's just nice to have something on the needles and be involved in marketing, which can also be considered a personal gain and an opportunity to create a good network with like-minded people.

At the end of the process, you will of course receive the final version of the recipe, and you will also receive a discount code that you can use on a recipe of your choice from my collection.

Community on Instagram

What works varies, but I try to create a chat group on Instagram for the test knitters who participate in the specific test knit. It is up to you whether you want to use the group or prefer direct feedback to me by email.

Ravelry

I also create a test knitter code on Ravelry where you can add your project. It's not a requirement, and I must admit that I don't have much experience with it yet myself. But ultimately it just means a lot to my chances of reaching a wide audience on Ravelry that there are pictures and examples of the design when I publish the pattern.

About sizes

I am working dedicatedly to have my entire range released in multiple sizes. Therefore, I can request testing assistance for both new and existing designs.

As a starting point, I am assuming these sizes and measurements, which may vary slightly:

XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL)

corresponding to a chest measurement of approx.:

74 (84) 94 (104) 114 (124) 134 (144) cm

I always share information about recommended movement clearance for each design.

Materials

There is always at least 1 yarn alternative suggested to work with.

You are free to work with exactly the yarn you want, as long as you can adhere to the knitting tension and achieve the desired look.

Since I am a small knitwear designer, I cannot offer sponsored yarn to all of my test knitters (and sometimes not to any of them at all) . It may also happen that I can offer a discount code for purchasing yarn instead, but if you have something suitable in your yarn stash, I am also very grateful for your interest and help.
